ABOUT.
The work of visual artist, photographer and filmmaker Michiel van Nieuwkerk is versatile. He is the creator of the successful film series ‘De Hollandse Meesters in de 21e eeuw’. His visual work is part of collections of musea and private collectors, in the Netherlands and abroad. In his work Van Nieuwkerk combines photography, collage, laser cutting techniques and sculptural elements.
THE BARN.
For more than a year Michiel van Nieuwkerk has been working in his outside studio, a barn in the countryside. Light, space, earth, sun and moon are the important inspirations for his new photographic and sculptural works. Van Nieuwkerk: “In these extraordinary times I let myself be lifted by the silence, space and beauty of nature around me. In my new works I have tried to make these phenomena tangible.”
